Although hose today is developed strongly and flexibly and is specially constructed
to handle the conditions for which it is recommended, there are several basic
suggestions to maintain hose for longer service :
- Select the hose recommended for the job or
use the hose in the right purpose.
- Apply maximum working pressure less than
the pressure marked on the hose body.
- Change pressure gradually without subject
ing the hose to excessive surge pressure.
- Avoid the hose to subjected to any form of
rough treatment. Hose should not be dragged over rocks or other abrasive surfaces.
- Provide sufficient restricting valves and
shutoff nozzles to stop flow, never fold
back or kink the hose as this may rupture the carcass causing bursting.
- Do not wrap or wind the hose with
unnecessary wire, rope or other binding
as such binding may wear through the cover and jeopardize workmen's safety.
- Prevent wire - reinforced or metal - lined hose from being crushed by heavy tools and vehicles, or being kinked, or break
|
- the tube and cause leaks or blow outs; if the hose should accidentally be flattened ,carefully reshape it with a mallet.
- Connect hose carefully by clamping the bolts evenly and ensuring positive clampling.
- Do not pull or twist the hose with a large external force.
- Make sure the specified bending radius is not exceeded when using.
- Drain out the fluid inside the hose after using the hose, especially residual oil.
- Place the hose indoors or in a shaded area that will not be exposed to direct sunshine. For storing outdoors, take such protective measures as covering the hose with a sheet cover.
